Early Monday morning, in Montello, while our high school youth were working hard to serve the elderly and in need around town, a very large milestone in LBH history passed. Those servant hearts and hard working hands did not even know it, rather they were immersed in the service and focusing on the job at hand. Good thing, seeing as that’s exactly what we hope to see from our missionaries — love being given out in large measure to whoever we have the privilege of serving on any given day.
We really believe each individual hour in service we give through Love Begins Here is important, as we have the opportunity to brighten someone’s day or help with some kind of work that needs to be accomplished, while being carriers of God’s love. Not only do our missionaries take to this task on Love Begins Here, but they — and all of us — are called to do the very same thing each and every day of our lives.
With all that said, it is still exciting when these days come around where we can mark milestones like this one that show us just how we’ve come in just under 5 summers of work.
Yesterday, on Monday, July 8th, 2013, Love Begins Here had officially passed the 20,000 mark of total hours of service given to our communities, the elderly and those in need in the Madison Diocese.
Praise the Lord. And, with that a few thank you’s are in order. Thank you to all of you who have picked up a shovel, pulled some weeds, spent time in conversation with those we were serving or have done any other service with us over the past five years. Thank you to all of those who have given us financial support. Thank you to all of those who have lifted us up in prayer. Truly, without each and every one of you, we would not be where we are today.
Please continue to pray for Love Begins Here, the missionaries of years past, the missionaries in the future and all of those that we have had the privilege of serving and will serve in the future. Here’s to completing 20,000 — and many more — hours of service in the years ahead!
